The little scatterbrain leaves to run errands without asking

     what to buy.

He runs very fast – hurry hurry hurry.

At the intersection of the first block, he turns around:

“What am I supposed to buy?” – hurry hurry hurry.

The little scatterbrain asks and leaves the second time.

He runs towards the grocery shop at the intersection of the

third block – hurry hurry hurry.

At the intersection of the second block, he turns around:
“I didn’t bring any money with me!” – hurry hurry hurry.

The little scatterbrain leaves the third time, but this time

     with some money.

He runs to the grocery shop – hurry hurry hurry.

He buys vegetables and pays,

he runs home, but without his groceries – hurry hurry

     hurry.

After the Second World War, this song was sung with lyrics that go back to one of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, namely “The Elves” (Heinzelmännchen – Wichtelmännchen). Nowadays, pupils learn these funny lyrics by Michio Mado together with this melody.
