Whistling,

holahi holaho,

we walk hand in hand,

holahiyaho.

The blue sky above us,

holahi holaho,

we sing loudly,

holahiyaho.

All of our voices,

holahi holaho,

sound merry,

holahiyaho.

Shining green,

holahi holaho,

makes the world bright,

holahiyaho.

The lyrics were written by Shizuo Hisano who wrote many Japanese lyrics for originally foreign songs. The daily NHK TV broadcast “Minnano uta” (Songs for everyone) aired this song with different lyrics by Magoichi Kushida (Natsunoyama – summer mountains) in 1963 and made it popular.
